HURDLE:

The Washington Scandals RFC needed a recruitment video that captured the spirit of the team and reached potential new players where they are - on social media. As a proudly gay and inclusive rugby team, they wanted content that reflected both their competitive drive and community vibe. The challenge was creating something authentic, bold, and optimized for paid ad performance.

APPROACH:

The creative direction centered on intimacy and authenticity. We used close-up interviews to foster a personal connection between the viewer and the players, allowing their voices and stories to lead the narrative. The abstract, uplifting score underscored themes of belonging, transformation, and pride—building a mood that was more heartfelt than hype. Every visual choice was made to invite the viewer into the emotional core of what it means to join the Scandals.

CREATIVE:

The final video was a short-form recruitment piece built for social media performance and emotional resonance. Designed for both organic and paid distribution, it delivered a 4.17% click-through rate - well above average for social campaigns. With over 7,700 views and a reach of nearly 5,000, the video successfully turned visibility into meaningful engagement, helping the Scandals connect with new audiences and grow their community.
